Life at NIIM-SBA |
Life at NIIM-SBA is a mix of
fun and hard work. An academic year is meant to
be studded with Cultural Events, Business Games,
Industrial Tours, Conferences and Seminars. To add
to these, Quizzes, Debates, Music Contests, Stock
Games and Elocution Contests will mingle with routine
Classroom Activities. Boys and Girls Hostels offer
their own string of festivals, and the students
will be active participants in them.
A Day in the Life of an NIIMian
A normal academic week day beings at 9:00 a.m. with
teaching sessions usually extending up to 4:00 p.m.
and occasionally up to 5:00 p.m. Internal assessment
tests and quizzes, etc. are reserved for the first
hour between 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Lunch hours
are between 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. during which
the NIIM-SBA rooftop cafeteria serves the choicest
dishes. Most of the Lab related sessions mean to
happen post-lunch and this is also the time for
visiting the Library
For most programs, classes are being planned five
days a week. Saturdays are usually reserved for
special lectures by visiting faculty and other academic
and extra-curricular activities.
A Year in the Life of an NIIMian
The new academic session begins in the first week
of January and July every year for all programs.
Fresh students spend around two weeks in orientation
and immersion. Semesters end in December and May
with exams.
Summer break is usually eight weeks consuming
almost the entire months of May and June. This
period is meant for Industry-internship and Summer
training programs. A week is also reserved for
industry visits. Winter vacations coincide with
Christmas and New Year and stretch for a week
during the end of December.
With its own small gym, table tennis, volleyball
and cricket facilities and the independence of nurturing
hobbies and talents, NIIM-SBA offers excellent opportunities
to its students for mixing studies with fun and,
hence giving the students a chance to develop into
fine individuals.
